REPLACE MULTIPLE TEETH

An implant bridge is very similar to a conventional bridge, but it is supported by implants instead of natural teeth.

What is an implant bridge?

An implant bridge is very similar to a conventional bridge, but it is supported by implants instead of natural teeth.  The implant bridge looks and functions like natural teeth and is typically used when there are multiple missing teeth.  One implant is normally placed at each end, and crowns are connected together to form one piece.

What are the advantages of an implant bridge?

An implant bridge can be placed without support from adjacent natural teeth.  Implant supported bridges will preserve bone because they replace some of the missing tooth roots.  Other treatment options, such as fixed bridges or removable partial dentures, are supported by the adjacent natural teeth.  The stress from traditional bridges and removable partial dentures will accelerate bone loss and tooth decay.  We recommend dental implants because they integrate with your bone and help to keep it healthy and intact.

How long does the implant bridge process take?

The process varies depending on the patient and their dental condition.  During the first visit, patients have an examination, X-rays, and impressions are taken so that models can be made.  The doctor will also request a three dimensional X-ray (CT scan). In most cases, implants are placed in the first phase of surgery.  Temporary bridges can often be placed while the implants are healing.  During the healing process, the implant and bone fuse to one another.  Most patients are ready for the final bridge after three to four months of healing.  The need for extractions and bone grafting will sometimes increase the length of time required to complete the process.

What is the average cost of an implant bridge?

The cost of an implant bridge varies depending on the number of missing teeth, the need for bone grafting, and temporary replacements required during the healing phase.  Many insurance companies will pay a percentage of the fee depending on the individual plan.  A comprehensive exam and X-rays are required to determine actual costs.
